Macdonald & Associates licenses Antarctica's Visual Net software
Visual mapping provides quick and easy access to Canada's most comprehensive source of venture capital information

Vancouver, BC - May 15, 2001 -- Antarctica Systems Inc., a provider of revolutionary visual content navigation technology, announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Macdonald & Associates, a Toronto-based firm offering the most comprehensive, reliable, and timely source of information on venture capital activity in Canada.

The results will be on display at the Canadian IT Financing Forum, which will be held in Toronto at the Toronto Hilton on May 15-16, 2001. Macdonald & Associates will unveil their revamped Web site, CanadaVC.com, which includes Antarctica's implementation of Visual Net on their VCReporter database.

"Our audience is made up of venture capitalists who consistently invest in state-of-the-art technology, and we believe that we must make use of the newest, best-of-breed technology whenever possible. Visual Net is the trendsetter when it comes to easy, quick access to valuable information," said Mary Macdonald, President of Macdonald & Associates."

"Antarctica is helping Macdonald & Associates bring out the true quality and richness of our unparalleled proprietary database to our customers and potential customers."

With Visual Net, the venture capital data is placed on large-scale maps that use a superior navigation system and information-rich visuals that allow users to find information on investment deals in a way that is more like real life. The methodology behind the effective use of Visual Net as a knowledge management and search tool is S.O.S. -- Strategize, Organize, and Search. The visual mapping approach enables users to strategize how to sift through massive amounts of data, organize their approach in the most time effective manner, and search for the specific data they need.

"This application is exciting because it shows how easy it is to deploy Visual Net and bring a huge value-add to an existing extranet implementation," said Tim Bray, founder and CEO of Antarctica. "This is ultimately about increasing Macdonald & Associates' return on their investment in building this outstanding business resource."

The Venture Capital Deal Map Web site will feature:

  • The ability to search the database by industry sector or geographic location from the same interface;
  • A visual display that instantly gives the user a relative idea of which deals are the largest and most recent;
  • VCReporter's entire volume of investment capital deals, formatted in a way that will automatically update to reflect changes in their data or usage; and
  • Management of subscriber-only access to specific areas of the map.

Visual Net is a highly customizable data navigation solution that can be utilized in a wide range of client applications such as academic libraries, corporate Intranets, eCommerce and retail cataloging, and much more.
