Antarctica Systems Inc. and OCLC Announce 3-Month Pilot

Vancouver, BC, November 15, 2004 - Antarctica Systems Inc., a provider of Business Performance Management software, today announced that OCLC Online Computer Library Center, the world's largest library cooperative, will be implementing a pilot using Antarctica’s Visual Net software, to evaluate library users' experiences with searching and display of search results using the Company’s breakthrough visual interface.

Visual Net will be applied to OCLC’s new database of over 200,000 electronic books catalogued in their WorldCat database. Starting in January 2005, subscribers to OCLC’s Base Package and Collection on FirstSearch will be able to use the visual interface for searching and viewing results. OCLC will be conducting a user survey to gauge feedback during this pilot and will also collect usage statistics that will be evaluated for future applications. The pilot will run until April 2005.

"We are very excited to be working with OCLC; this application is a great example of the adaptability of Visual Net, to provide measurable value in any environment, including outside of our traditional commercial enterprise clients" says Antarctica’s President and CEO, Barry Yates, “When applied to library holdings, Visual Net’s rich category and concept neighborhoods provide an experience for the patron that is more akin to browsing the stacks, allowing them to find what they need more quickly and with less guesswork, especially when they are unsure where to begin their research.”
